My Story

Why I Built The Senior Living Report

I spent more than 20 years as a registered nurse before stepping back from the bedside — but I never stepped back from the work. Patient advocacy is still very much part of my weekly life, sitting with patients and families at some of the most important and difficult moments of their lives. It is among the most gratifying work I have ever done.

Over those years I noticed something that kept coming up again and again: most families want to do the right thing — but they simply do not know where to start, what to ask, or how to plan ahead before a crisis forces their hand. I watched people make consequential decisions under pressure, without the information they needed, at exactly the wrong moment.

I built The Senior Living Report to change that. To give you the same plain-language, nurse-informed guidance I would give a member of my own family — without overwhelm, confusion, or fear.

Who This Is For

You Do Not Have to Figure This Out Alone

Whether you are navigating this for yourself or for someone you love, this site was built with you in mind.

Older Adults
Focused on staying independent, informed, and in control of your own decisions for as long as possible.
Adult Children
Trying to help a parent navigate care options, safety concerns, or the legal and financial realities of aging.
Family Caregivers
Carrying the weight of caregiving and looking for practical guidance, honest information, and support.
Spouses & Partners
Supporting a loved one through health changes and trying to make confident decisions together.
My Credentials & Approach

Experience From Both Sides of the Bed

I am a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, certified in Alzheimer’s and dementia care through the Alzheimer’s Association’s EssentiALZ program. I have worked across care settings — hospitals, long-term care, home health — and as an older adult myself, I understand this territory from both sides of the bed.

Beyond nursing and writing, I am a seasoned videographer and producer — I handle every aspect of video production myself, from scripting through shooting, editing, and final delivery. That same attention to detail and commitment to clear communication runs through everything I produce on this site.

Everything here is written from the perspective of someone who has walked beside hundreds of older adults over the years — both professionally and personally. You will not find fear-based content, vague advice, or articles written to rank rather than to help. What you will find is what I would tell you if you were sitting across from me.

My Philosophy

What I Believe About Aging

These are the principles that guide everything I write and every tool I build.

Independence can be strengthened at any age — with the right information and the right plan.
Planning ahead prevents crisis later. The best time to prepare is before you need to.
Information should empower, not overwhelm. If it is not useful, it does not belong here.
Every older adult deserves to feel safe, respected, and in control of their own life.
Small, proactive decisions made today build the long-term confidence families need tomorrow.
We cannot prevent every challenge that comes with aging. But we can prevent many of the unnecessary ones.
